Executive Director, Latino Resource Center, Jackson, WY

I just wanted to mention something about the community where I am living at. That people are coming actually to try to get the Latinos to integrate into the community. We are the first generation, so we are learning everything from step one, so we are committing a lot of mistakes, making something that maybe we shouldn't, but we are trying as hard as we can. For example, I worked for the Police department for four years. They have sent all their police to training, tolerance training, and everyone in the community is trying a little bit to help them. But even when they try to help them, sometimes the integration is not there, because for us sometimes, we lag behind, because people have maybe a 3rd-grade education. So to come to these meetings, to really embrace that is very difficult. But in these communities, it's happening. They are trying to reach and hopefully we will see that in other communities.
